Like the Landgrave monument in the English Garden, the memorial in the Kurpark is also an homage to the Homburg dynasty. The local “monument commission” commissioned sculptor Fritz Gerth to create this work. He created an obelisk on a base above a podium with many levels, which is decorated with portraits of the most well-known landgrave and the last landgrave, Friedrich II and Ferdinand, respectively. The monument was revealed in 1906 with Emperor Wilhelm II on hand for the occasion.
