The monument in honor of the Landgrave House of Homburg was commissioned around 1869-70 at the instigation of the Homburg citizens based on a design by Louis Jacobi. The 2.5-meter tall mottled sandstone column, shaped like a tree without a crown with six stumps and four stone lions resting out front, bears the names of every Landgrave of Homburg. The lack of crown on the tree shows that the male line of the House has died out.
