The villa was built by Edmund Heusinger von Waldegg in 1857-58 as part of a double house at Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade 20 and 22 in the northern German neo-Gothic style with prominent stepped gables. The first owner at no. 20 was Dr. Gustav Schilling, who sold it to Jacob Stroh in 1865. From Karl Frommel, the villa came into the possession of Heinrich Kleindienst around 1890, and he operated a spa guesthouse here until 1912. It became the “Villa Miethe” only in 1914, as can be seen in the spa guest lists of that year.
