Master builder Christian Holler, along with Edmund Heusinger von Waldegg, belongs to the first architects, who gave the emerging spa city its face. His own house, a stereotypical example of the spa architecture of the middle of the century, is located at Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade 67. The building, built in the 1850s, is a two-story late-classicistic cube with a hip roof and tall windows. Not only was it the family residence, but also Holler's architectural office. During the summer season, the house also offered rooms for about 25 spa guests, who preferably came from English-speaking countries. One of the guests was George William Frederick Charles, 2nd Duke of Cambridge, who was a member of the British royal family.
