Solz’ Publishing House

Alexander “Alex” Solz was one of the most well-known publishers of his time in Homburg. As the son of a furrier, he learned his father's trade, but he still possessed artistic talent. Thus, he recognized the economic potential of picture postcards early on. He opened his publishing house at Louisenstraße 42 in 1896. The great demand for postcards allowed the young company to thrive quickly, and Solz produced 170 different images within four years. In addition, he worked as a furrier and, in 1913, as a cap maker. In 1914, Solz seems to have died suddenly, which was also the end of his publishing house.
