Small Spa House
After about two years of pre-negotiations, the Kurhäuschen spa cottage was erected in place of the Haus am Mineralbrunnen (Mineralbrunnen Spring House), which was torn down in 1824. Like its predecessor, it was initially used for distributing the mineral water and as a residence for the keeper of the spring. In 1835, it was expanded according to plans drawn up for the restaurant by then architectural accountant Jakob Westerfeld. On the two narrow sides, it had two tent-style porches to give the building a hint of the Mediterranean. The interior had two kitchens and several guest rooms for the summer season. It was not used as a bathhouse, as planned for originally. Its suitability as a spa was also limited, as there was no Kursaal entertainment room. In 1838 came the construction of the Brunnensälchen (Small Spring Room) nearby. The Kurhäuschen cottage was no longer considered restorable and was auctioned off in 1843 to be demolished.
