Timeline of Building History

Postal Station (4.)

The post office at Louisenstraße 70 was opened in 1868. It was moved to this location from Louisenstraße 40 to meet the increasing demand from the flourishing spa business. In the same year, stagecoach transportation, the so-called “Personenpost” (personal transport post), was set up at the post office, which provided transport between Homburg, Friedrichsdorf, Friedberg and Usingen during the summer, which was the high season for the spa business. This stagecoach line only stopped providing service in 1895, after the corresponding railway connection was built along with the Usingen train station. The post office had however already moved into the newly built Imperial Post Office at Louisenstraße 65 in 1893.
