Usingen Station (Homburg Neu)

The Usingen train station was built between 1892 and 1895 and was opened in October 1895. As an extension of the Alter Bahnhof (Old Train Station), which put Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main region in reach, it was the end station for the connection to Usingen via Friedrichsdorf and also included the Hintertaunus (“Farther Taunus”) region on its 23-kilometer route. Until then, travelers from the Usinger countryside had to use the stagecoach. In 1901, the line from Friedrichsdorf to Friedberg was extended and thus connected to Gießen and Kassel. The distance to the Old Train Station, which made changing trains very difficult, and the unfavorable route, which often caused accidents, finally led to the Neuer Bahnhof (New Train Station) being built in 1907, and the old station building was torn down.
