The building, where the later Kurgarten Café was located, was built at Ludwigstraße 4 during the course of construction of the first Kurhaus spa around 1840. In 1885-86, the building was increased in height based on plans by architect Louis Jacobi and a new façade was added. A café first came in in the 1920s.
