The mineral water shipments carried out by the municipal spring administration were connected with the intention to profitably market the products of the local healing springs since the spa business began in the first half of the 19th century. After its beginnings at the Haus am Mineralbrunnen (Mineralbrunnen Spring House) and at the Kurhäuschen cottage, shipment had been carried out at the so-called “Grüne Halle” (Green Hall), near the Elisabethenbrunnen spring starting in 1838. In 1889, pharmacist Dr. Adolf Rüdiger took over the shipments, which he then expanded around 1910, adding his own pharmaceutical compounds, such as the “Treupelsche Schmerztabletten” (Treupel painkillers). Around 1908, the spring water shipment building at the intersection of the Elisabethenbrunnen and Augusta Allee roads had already been built according to plans drawn up by Louis Jacobi. In 1921, Heilquellen GmbH, a subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company Chemisch-Pharmazeutische Werke founded only one year before, took over the operation, with Dr. Rüdiger continuing to play a leading role in the development of medications, including the chamomile compound “Kamillosan”, as a member of the supervisory board.
