Soden Mill

The Sodenmühle mill was one of the last relicts of the time when the Homburg springs were still used to extract salt. It was built under Landgrave Friedrich II and was first mentioned in 1685. After operations at the saltworks ceased around 1740, it was converted into a flour mill and put into an emphyteutic system. Around 1830, the mill was used for tobacco production. In 1865, the last hereditary miller, Andreas Zimmer, sold it to Landgrave Ferdinand, who had it torn down in 1867 during the course of the expansion of the Kurpark spa park.
