In 1834, when the Elisabethenquelle spring was rediscovered, the first list of arrivals appeared in Homburg with the title “List of spa guests who have arrived in Homburg in 1834”. It was a thin volume that had the names of only 155 spa guests that had visited the spa between May and August. But the time period should have been extended, which would have also increased the number of guests significantly. In 1872, the number of visitors reached its high point at 21,000. The lists of arrivals usually recorded the last name, first name, title, and origin of the guest and also their place of accommodation in Homburg and sometimes their profession. In the 1840s, the spa guest lists also included information on services such as the omnibus and post schedules, times of church services for the various denominations as well as advertisements for Homburg businesses. Around the turn of the century, the lists were enriched with small reports about the spa life.
