In 1912 as well as in 1916, there was a public city pool in the former city fire station at Elisabethenstraße 11. The building is still listed as a fire station in the building description of 1907. By constructing a public pool, the city seems to have been reacting to the increasing standards of hygiene of the constantly growing population.
