The Thurn and Taxis postal business was located at Louisenstraße 40 beginning around the middle of the 19th century. In 1866, when Hesse-Homburg became Prussian the state took over postal operations, which it then unified with the “Reichspost” imperial postal administration by 1872. Since the spa business also led to a massive increase in demand for postal services, the post office was moved to Louisenstraße 70, near the spa, in 1868.
