Auguste Viktoria Spring

The Auguste-Viktoria-Brunnen (Auguste Viktoria Spring), named for the wife of Emperor Wilhelm II, was bored in 1906. The spring, whose water contains sodium chloride, was mainly used for drinking spa treatments. The design of the spring came from architect Louis Jacobi, which he started with the model of a monopteros from the park of Villa Borghese in Rome (see postcard), but which also took into consideration the ideas of Wilhelm II. As Louis Jacobi died in 1910, his son Heinrich completed work on the spring in the summer of 1911.
