The villa at Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade 57 was built in 1857 for Baron Julius de Wellens according to designs by Christian Holler. In 1865, ownership was transferred to the merchant family of Philipp Heinrich Debus. The building experienced many changes in the 1880s and 1890s, and in 1911, further larger renovations were carried out. According to the spa guest lists, the Debus family ran the house as a spa villa from 1898 until 1918. In 1889, the court photographer Julius van Bosch set up a studio in the rear courtyard, which however lasted only 10 years.
