Timeline of Building History

Hotel Hessischer Hof (Hotel de Hesse)

Hotel “Hessischer Hof” was one of the first hotels in Homburg. It can be found on the first spa guest list from 1834. The building, which was built even before the spa era in 1824, was centrally located at Louisenstraße 59 across from the Kurhaus spa, which was built later. After the fire at the Kurhaus spa in 1860, the Kurtheater performances were put on at the Hessischer Hof from 1861 until April 1863. In spite of its great location, the owners accrued so much debt that the building was forced into auction in 1883. A year later, the city bought it and converted it into the town hall.
