As an alternative therapeutic method of healing, spa physician Dr. Hamel introduced medical-mechanical treatments with physiotherapy equipment based on the ideas of Swedish physician Gustav Zander (1835-1920) in the second half of the 19th century. The facility was originally in the Kurhaus spa, and later around 1910, it was housed in the Brunnensälchen (Small Spring Room). It was also called the “Therapeutikum” and the “Zander Institute”, had various owners, and existed until around 1920.
