Schick’s Bookstore (Schick’sche Buchhandlung)

In 1883, the Schick bookstore opened in the building at Louisenstraße 64, which was designed as a residential building and constructed in 1829. From 1939 until 1864, the building housed the Hotel Englischer Hof, which had already been expanded to include Louisenstraße 64a in 1841. Louis and later Friedrich Schick were not only booksellers, rather they were also book printers and publishers, whose shop was located at Louisenstraße 73. In 1855, Louis Schick had already authored one of the first city guides for Homburg and the surrounding areas, which was reprinted many times.
