The Landgrave Bridge was built around 1828 in remembrance of Landgrave Friedrich V Ludwig and was initially called the Friedrich-Ludwig Bridge or the Ludwig Bridge. Within the “Landgrave Garden Landscape”, it is an important element on the Elisabethenschneise path, which in turn acted as an extension of the Tannenwaldallee Road, which had come to a premature end with the Großer Tannenwald (Great Fir Forest). In fitting with its namesake, the bridge measures 71 feet and 11 inches, corresponding to the years and days of the landgrave's life, i.e. 71 years and 11 days.
