Gemäß der örtlichen Überlieferung soll das Dorf Kautz früher im Grund am Kautzwasser gelegen haben. Dort stand auch eine Mühle. Die Stelle "beym Mühlfall" (Salbuch von 1712) ist noch bekannt, doch nicht gebräuchlich. Der Mühlfall, ein Wehr, ist fast ganz verschwunden. Der Lehrer V. Schilling hat aber einst die Stelle gesehen. Der Mühlgraben lässt sich als schwache Bodensenke noch ein Stück verfolgen.
