The building housed one of the oldest hotels, the “Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten” (Hotel Four Seasons), erected in 1844. Beginning in the 1860s, it was owned by the hotelier Wilhelm Schlotterbeck, who had it expanded and renovated many times. It also used its English name, the “Four Seasons”, starting in the 1880s, which is indicative of its many English-speaking guests. In 1897, Carl Schweimler acquired the building, which he renamed the “Grand Hotel” in 1898 and owned until around 1907. In 1918, the building was sold to the Kofler leather goods factory. The building was completely destroyed during bombing in 1945.
